If you walk to the end of the pier and up along Newport Avenue - the tawdry main street of Ocean Beach - and manage to get past the bars full of citizens, unreconstructed hippies, hipsters, bikers, and pretty women and make it past "The Black", Ocean Beach's famous head shop from whence issues alluring incenses and the clatter of wind-blown beads and then past a bunch of antique shops and make a left turn onto CABLE STREET you'll find Bernie's Bike Shop - which is where you wanted to go to get your flat tire fixed.
